She pulled back quickly, smiling sheepishly up at him. "Sorry" she said gently, returning to Cynthia. She picked her up and sat down on a desk next to Perry, looking at him. "You said you had a daughter" she said slowly, kind of worried that she might bug him with her questions. "W-What happened?" she asked softly.
She had missed a lot of things in his life, and apparently he had missed a lot in her life, so it wasn't a surprise that she had quite a few questions for him, and he probably had some for her. She glanced down at Cynthia, knowing one of those questions would be about her, she just knew it.

"Oh." he said widening his eyes a bit and taking a deep breath as she asked what happened. Where to start when you haven't seen someone for years? "Well, it happened what usually happens when you marry someone." he said simply, saying like this in the same time that he was married, giving another piece of information to her.
"Her name's Abigail, she's... thirteen, well she's gonna be thirteen but kids at that age they just dream of being sixteen to have a car."he said with a short laugh. "She lives with her mother. She and I are... well we got divorced a long time ago." he explained to Jennifer. He waved in direction of the class. "A few students know about Abbie, she tends to call me on the wrong moments or to just show up in here demanding to go out with friends. I suspect her to do it more for the boys in here then to actually see me though." he said with a little smile.

She smiled lightly, looking up at him. "I don't blame her. I can only imagine what will happen when this little one gets to that age" she said looking down at Cynthia. She laughed gently, turning around and wrapping her arms tightly around Jennifer. Jennifer smiled, glancing over at Perry.
"I'm sorry about what happened to you and...that other woman" she said gently, smiling softly. "I can only imagine how horrible that felt."

He shrugged as she said she was sorry. "We were... well let's just say we were way too different to be anything more than friends and no child could have fixed it. We're in good terms so I guess it's alright." he said with a nod.
He then glanced at Cynthia. "And you... a child now. How old is she, must have been hard to have one so late." he said, trying not to sound too arrogant or mean but being a scientist he knew that it was hard for a woman after 30 to have a child and even more after 40, it could be dangerous. "And science, I thought you didn't like it much." he said with a smile since it was not to displease him.

She looked down at Cynthia, smiling gently. "She's only 2 years old" she stated, looking over at him. "It wasn't that hard actually. We were even expecting it actually" she said gently, lowering her gaze. She figured it would be best maybe to just tell him the whole story, maybe then she wouldn't feel so bad about hiding it from him. "I had a roommate while I was in college, and he got me pregnant. When he found out, he ran out on me and sadly, I was left alone" she said gently, looking up at him slowly.
"I had to leave in a woman's shelter until after I had her. I managed to get a job here, and I was finally able to afford a new apartment." she said gently, hiding her face against the top of Cynthia's head.

Perry was speechless after her story. All he managed to say after a minute of silence was 'wow' in a shocking tone. He tried to shake it off and printed a small smile on his lips. "Well, you're on your way of going up that bad moment. Welcome to Welton." he said to her not sure though if she'd smile and feel better with that, but what could he say. Though Abbie was not expected he was married and so it was still something they wanted to.
He stood up and joined her. "You'll find out the people here can be pain sometimes just like in any other school but since they must absolutely have good enough grades to stay in that establishment, they tend to work well and hard most of the time." he said, walking her to the back room where all the equipment was. he explained the duties she'd have as his assistant to come before classes and look at all the material that is to be used in the day to make sure they are all operational. He then showed the key to the dangerous products saying one was being made at the moment for her but in the meantime she can ask for his at any moment. Of course it also meant no one had the right to borrow something from there unless an accordance of either him or her. "There are still some who likes to sue them. After all you can make drugs with those or explode a toilet, it's always things that is interesting for troublemakers." he said. He then returned to the classroom and gave her sheets with the programs for every years and also the plan of the class with the different groups and who was in them.

She followed after him, keeping a hold on Cynthia so she wouldn't get into anything. Once she got all the papers and stuff, Jennifer placed them into her bag and sat down on the desk again, watching Cynthia walk around the room, keeping away from the places she couldn't go into.
"Is there anything else I should know?" she asked gently, looking at him. "Anything about you that I don't know?"

"Me?" he said quite surprised she talked of him. "No, I don,t see what you'd need to know about me." he said though something sounded false. But he couldn't tell her, he couldn't have her think he was some pervert like he felt he was for looking at his student girls, or more like one student girl.
He shook his head as if he was shaking it all off in the same time. "Do you need a visit of the school?" he asked, proposing himself in the same time to be her guide.

She looked at him, frowning slightly. He had never hid a secret from her before. That's why it was so easy for her to tell him about what her step father had done to her when she was younger. She sighed gently, maybe he had changed. Maybe the time they spent apart made it almost impossible for them to be friends again.
When he spoke, Jennifer nodded her head, picking up Cynthia. "Yeah, I think so. It was kind of hard just to find this classroom" she said gently, her voice almost like a whisper now.

He nodded with a sympathetic smile. he waved in direction of the door as he walked to it. "Come, I'll show you the most important rooms."
He walked her to the teacher's lounge and to his desk saying she could use it as well if she wished. In the same time he showed her the only picture of his daughter he had which was also the only personal thing on his desk. He then walked her to the cafeteria and gave her the approximative prices of the best meals she could find and also a few good restaurants around, including the cooking school that was selling what its students cooked during the day. And finally the dorms giving the main rules of the school in the same time as he talked and also a few more things he might need of her, like helping out correcting works and essays. Once over and back to the science class he turned to face her. "Don't worry, it can be hard at first but you'll find you're way quickly I'm sure of it. If you think you're ready you start tomorrow is that alright with you? I'll need someone to inspect those eyes and make sure they're fresh."

She looked over at him, kind of over-whelmed by everything. "I think so" she said gently, looking around for Cynthia. She found her outside of the classroom and walked over to her, leaning down to pick her up. She stood up shortly before she grabbed her and rested her head on her forehead. She swayed slightly then collapsed to the ground, having fainted while she was standing there. Cynthia scrambled over to Jennifer, pushing her while calling mommy over and over.

"Jen...Jenifer?" he said while frowning as he saw her collapsing. he went to her and touched her face and took her pulse to see what was wrong. Using the intercom he had the secretary call someone from the infirmary come to see her. In the meantime he took a cloth he wet with cool water and, pushing gently Cynthia aside though still keeping an eye on her he pressed the cloth over Jennifer's face to cool down the temperature of her body. At least her pulse for what he noticed was fine for the moment. Maybe it was the temperature or she didn't eat enough before coming here. Either way all he tried to do was to wake her while waiting for the nurse to come with, like he asked, some sugar to help her.

Jennifer awoke only when she felt the cloth upon her head. She rolled onto her back and looked up at him, groaning lightly. "What happened?" she asked, looking around for Cynthia. She spotted her behind Perry and waved her hand gently, saying she could come over to her. Jennifer wrapped an arm around Cynthia loosely, holding her against her.
Looking up at Perry once more, Jennifer groaned once more, feeling a pain in the back of her head. "Did I fall or something?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

He was still frowning though sighed of relief seeing she was awake. he took the sugar from the nurse and had her eat it. "Yes, you fcollapsed all of a sudden." he confirmed to her. He looked around and found her bag. He grabbed it and looked in it for the cookies giving it to them. "Eat it will help you feel better." he said softly.
He let her get some strength, moving away from her to give her some space if she wanted to try standing up. "Does it happen a lot with you?"

She ate the sugar he gave her then watched as he looked around for her bag. Returning, she took the cookies he gave her and ate one, slowly sitting up. As she ate, Jennifer pulled a cookie out of the bag and gave it to Cynthia, running her hand gently through her daughters hair.
Jennifer looked over at him again as he spoke. She shook her head lightly, regretting it when there was a sharp pain radiating from the back of her head. "No actually" she said gently, looking down. "I think its the fact that we don't get much to eat at the shelter, and I just left there yesterday. I haven't eaten a decent meal all day, I could only afford enough to feed Cynthia some but even that I won't be able to do tonight."
